After dropping their Week 6 matchup to the struggling New York Giants, the Denver Broncos are not down in the dumps. They don’t have time to be down in the dumps.

When they head to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers for the second and final time this season, it will be the first of a three-game stretch on the road that’ll feature stops in Kansas City to take on the 5-2 Chiefs and in Philadelphia to take on the 5-1 Eagles.

If the Broncos are still down from Sunday’s game — and play like it — this could be a long three weeks.

A win over the then-winless Giants would’ve been a solid way to kick off the second quarter of the season for the Broncos, but the past is in the past. As they move forward, cornerback Aqib Talib is certain that everyone in the locker room is doing so in good spirits.

“We work — it’s the National Football League,” Talib said on Thursday. “Everybody in this locker room has lost a game before. We know how to work, and all you can do is work. I feel like we had a great week of practice and we have a good game plan, so we’ll see what happens.”

Losses are part of the game, but they’re no one’s favorite part. According to Von Miller, the key to winning in the NFL is desperation. The Broncos experienced firsthand what it was like to face a desperate team in the Giants, and he’s fully aware that their opponents this week will take the field with a similar mindset.

“You have to be desperate each and every week,” Miller said. “If you’re not desperate about it, [you’re] not going to win. It’s highly competitive out there. We were supposed to win last week — we didn’t win. It’s a competitive game.”

Playing on the road in the NFL is tough, so you can imagine how tough playing three-straight road games can be. The key, according to Miller, will be breaking it down into small increments, and taking it one game at a time.

“For me, it’s day to day,” Miller said. “To be consistent in the National Football League, you can’t really think about it like we have this month of football coming up. It’s too competitive.”

Luckily for the Broncos, things move quickly in the NFL, and the next opportunity presents itself on Sunday.

“There are too many moving parts,” Miller said. “Things happen so fast that you really can’t plan for it like that. Really, you have to go about it six hours at a time. If you’re able to do that, you’ll be good.”
