Head coach Mike Bobo landed a major recruit on Wednesday when he inked Mullen’s Christian Cumber to a National Letter of Intent. He doubled down that score when he added Cumber’s teammate, Marcus McElroy. Together, Cumber and McElroy made up 20 percent of Colorado’s top-10 recruiting prospects.

McElroy, the state’s No. 7 recruit according to CSU, was the top running back prospect in Colorado after rushing for over 3,000 yards in his first three years at Mullen. Rated a three-star recruit by Rivals, the 5-foot-10, 210-pound tailback received offers from nine Division I schools. Colorado State beat out fellow Mountain West members Air Force and Hawai’i, as well as in-state rival Colorado. Power 5 conference schools Kansas, Kansas State and Purdue were also vying for his services.

McElroy joins a recruiting class that includes seven offensive linemen that will be blocking for him in the years to come.
