While overall team results weren’t good, Colorado Buffaloes junior cornerback Isaiah Oliver was selected to the first-team All-PAC-12 on Tuesday. 26 of 27 first-team selections are making their first appearance on the all-conference squad.

The league will announce the conference player of the year and coach of the year awards Tuesday, but don’t expect to see any Buffs in the running. Oliver was the lone Buffs’ player represented on either the first- or second-teams. However, five other Buffs were honored as All-PAC-12 Honorable Mention in 2017:

  • Redshirt senior tailback Phil Lindsay
  • Redshirt senior left Tackle Jeromy Irwin
  • Junior inside linebacker Rick Gamboa
  • Junior defensive back Evan Worthington
  • Redshirt sophomore quarterback Steven Montez

In 10 games this season, Oliver recorded 26 total tackles, 13 breakups and two interceptions despite missing two games with an undisclosed leg injury. Those were the only two games he missed in his tenure at Boulder. Over the past three years, he was able to play in 37 of a possible 39 games, amassing 32 pass breakups and three interceptions.

On Friday, Oliver announced via Twitter that he will forego his senior year with the Buffaloes and enter the 2018 NFL draft. He is projected by many as one of the top cover corners in this year’s class and is widely thought to have a first-round grade.

Despite placing nine teams in bowl games in 2017, there will not be a PAC-12 representative in the upcoming college football playoff. Some consider it a down year, but the nine-game conference schedule seemed to again take a toll on the league.
