Bandimere Speedway sits on the side of the hogback in Morrison, Colorado and is family owned and operated, now in their 60th year of racing, thrilling fans with racing at some of the fastest speeds in Colorado.
Bandimere Speedway plays host to some of the biggest events — and most unique — in NHRA drag racing in the country including the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod, now returning to Denver for their second year at “Thunder Mountain” on August 10th and 11th to benefit One Cure.
Pro Mod drivers from all over the country are invited to Bandimere Speedway to participate in the ‘biggest, richest pro mod drag race in the history of the known universe’ created by Wes Buck, Drag Illustrated Editor-in-Chief, a 32-car, invite only field with $100,000 on the line and the only one of it’s kind.
Putting on races has been a part of the Drag Illustrated plan since the very beginning,” Buck says of Drag Illustrated. “We’ve spent the last 11 years building the Drag Illustrated brand, telling the stories of racers from all walks of life as they progress through their respective racing careers, and now it’s time to be part of some of those stories.”

As the festivities run on Friday and Saturday, fans at Bandimere will be treated to the fastest ‘door slammers’ (slang for race cars with doors) around the country, but with a common goal in their mind; to win the race against cancer.
The Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod race benefits One Cure, which was founded on the principle that cancer affects all creatures and that treatment breakthroughs come through collaboration between scientists and doctors who are working with both people and animals.
“One Cure is a program out of CSU, and they’re doing comparative oncology between the human sciences and the animal sciences to try and find one cure for cancer,” said Greg Schumann, who continues to spread the news of the organization and can be found at the race track often.
One Cure’s mission is to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer in pet animals, translating their research and knowledge to also benefit people with cancer.
Schumann helps with not only One Cure, but also the “Collision 2 Remission” race team, who are regular participates at Bandimere Speedway.
“Our main goal and mission is to team families that have kids with cancer up with the junior dragster racing teams,” said Kent Blythe of Collision 2 Remission racing.
Junior Dragsters are half-scale versions of their fathers that allow kids ages 5-17 to race down the race track, much like a go-kart or dirt bike. Blythe is a regular at Bandimere Speedway with his grand children and finds much joy in helping bring a smile to the face of kids and families who are affected by cancer.
“It’s such a pleasure to see the smile on their face,” Blythe said of the families they help. “They come out here to get away…Whatever we can do to make them happy.”

Now in its second year, the Drag Illustrated World Series of Pro Mod presented by One Cure and J&A Service is a one-of-a-kind drag racing event promoted by Drag Illustrated Media and hosted by Bandimere Speedway Aug. 10-11, 2018.
This year’s invite-only field will feature 32 of the best legal Pro Modified drivers fighting for the $100,000 winner-take-all prize.
