They may have gone off to play college football out of state, but it just feels like the McCaffrey boys should be playing in the orange and blue, right?

And it’s not just because they’re the sons of Broncos legend Ed McCaffrey; it’s because they, on their own, have earned the title of most-successful high school football family in Colorado history. The fact that Max McCaffrey, who ran a sub-4.40-second 40 and is on his way towards the NFL, is the least talked about of the bunch should tell you just how successful they’ve all been.

Christian is a Heisman frontrunner, Dylan is a top-tier quarterback recruit on route to the Big House and Luke may end up having the highest upside of them all.

For the Broncos, though, it’s Max McCaffrey whom they have their eyes on, as he’ll be visiting the team for a pre-draft workout on Tuesday.

Before his pro day, most had McCaffrey as a likely undrafted free agent, which would be just fine with the Broncos. If they can grab a guy like McCaffrey after the draft, bring him home and re-insert the No. 87 back into the lineup, Broncos Country would be more than happy.

If he continues to rise, thanks to his pro-day performance, to the point that he sneaks into the late rounds, though, Denver might be the one to reach for his potential — they’ll know him better than anyone.
