Sports Illustrated has reported that former Avalanche forward Ryan O’Reilly was arrested in Canada for driving while impaired with alcohol and for leaving the scene of an accident.

O’Reilly was traded by the Avalanche on draft night to Buffalo after the 24-year-old Ontario native and the team could not come to terms on a long-term contract extension. O’Reilly signed a seven-year, $52 million contract with Buffalo following the trade.

According to SI.com, O’Reilly and a number of unspecified passengers left the scene of a one-car accident Thursday night and O’Reilly was arrested around 4 a.m. The vehicle, a Chevy pickup truck, struck a Tim Horton’s, according to AM 890 in Ontario.

Last week O’Reilly posted this photo of his new truck on Instagram.
