Now that Von Miller has been handed the franchise tag, giving the Denver Broncos a little extra time to get a deal done, it’s time to turn their attention to priority No. 2: Brock Osweiler.

And it looks like they have.

What is substantial? Well that’s up for debate, but the baseline should be Sam Bradford‘s two-year, $36 million deal.

In the quarterback marketplace right now, Osweiler is as hot of commodity as you’ll find. If a franchise is looking to set the reboot button immediately, grab a developed quarterback with upside and make a run next year, then there’s no other option but Osweiler. That makes him worth quite a bit to a lot of people.

Unless Osweiler is dying to stay in Colorado, which could very well be true, John Elway will have to match whatever offer comes in from Cleveland, Los Angeles, Houston, etc.

This begs the question, though: What about Peyton Manning?

As Manning’s decision continues to drag out, the odds of him returning for another season seem to grow larger and larger. It’s hard to imagine that would be a very attractive for the Broncos or Osweiler.

The general consensus is that Manning won’t be on the Broncos, one way or another, even if that means cutting the future Hall of Famer, but James Palmer reports that the Broncos have not made that clear to Manning.

The clock is ticking, but at least it looks like the Broncos are moving.
