Another day, another pitcher swap.

On Sunday, Antonio Senzatela was called up to pitch that afternoon while German Marquez was placed on the paternity list. After Colorado’s day off, they have now called up Harrison Musgrave and placed Chris Rusin on the 10-day DL per Rockies PR:

While starting pitching has surged lately for the most part, and the Rockies are hitting the ball very well, their bullpen has been a year-long puzzle which seems to have pieces missing. They’re searching for the right mix currently, and Musgrave may be able to help.

This year, he’s 1-3 with a 4.76 ERA, giving up 15 earned runs in 28.1 innings pitched, with 16 walks and 20 strikeouts. Musgrave was recently on the 10-day DL for a right hip flexor, but seems to be good to go at this point.

He replaces Rusin, who’s struggled as of late, allowing four earned runs in his last three games pitched. His ERA sits at a terrible 6.81, allowing 30 runs in 39.2 innings pitched, with 34 Ks.

With the World Champion Houston Astros in town for two games starting tonight, the Rockies need all the help they can get in the pen. That game starts at 6:40 p.m. MST.
