The Denver Broncos’ season hasn’t turned out as anyone hoped. Missing the playoffs means a natural shift in human nature from the narrow view of winning every game to the wider one of improving and progressing as players. Broncos linebacker Shaquil Barrett, however, still wants to bring more intensity and energy to every single play.

In an interview with Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7 inside the Broncos’ locker room, Barrett — who will be a restricted free agent after the season — says he’s not where he wants to be yet, but the process is coming along.

“I think I’m not where I want to be yet… I’ve been trying, because there’s been some plays on film I had early in the season I didn’t like at all,” Barrett said.

The Broncos have benefited for Barrett’s solid pass-rushing abilities, witnessed by his four sacks and two forced fumbles. Now, Barrett is focused on bringing more intensity to the field.

“I worked to fix [poor] plays and make sure I bring my right intensity and energy every play… so I’ve got to work on being more consistent and having high energy and intensity. I have high energy, but my intensity is not there every play. I’ve got to be intense every play.”
