After the Denver Broncos’ 25-13 win over the Indianapolis Colts, All-Pro linebacker Von Miller was in a festive but contemplative mood.

Miller had an active night in the Colts backfield, finishing the game with three tackles, seven quarterback pressures and a tackle for a loss. It was a productive night to cap a taxing five-day stretch for Miller and the Broncos.

After dropping eight straight games, Denver was mathematically eliminated from the playoffs ahead of last Sunday’s home game against the Jets. Yet Miller and the Broncos came out with an inspired performance, shutting out New York and getting the team back into the win column. They followed that effort with the road win in Indianapolis on Thursday, coming back from a 10-0 deficit in the first half for the win.

The back-to-back wins had Miller smiling, and he was quick to point out in his postgame press conference that even though the postseason is no longer a possibility, his team still has every reason to give their best effort each time they take the field.

“I hate when we get asked the question, ‘What [are] you guys playing for?’ This is our job, this is our dream,” Miller said. “We’ve worked hard to get to this point. Forget the score. Forget the record. To have the opportunity to go out there and play in front of the lights, in front of the fans, you can get up for that anytime; it doesn’t really matter what the record is.”

At 5-9, the Broncos have two games left to improve that record. More importantly, they have two more games to continue living the dream.
