Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story has been named the National League player of the week after hitting six home runs, with 12 RBIs and a .478 batting average.

The Rockies went 5-3 last week, concluding with a four-game sweep of Atlanta in which the rookie phenom went a combined 7-14 with four home runs, one stolen base, a double and nine RBIs.

Story ranks in the top five in the National League in home runs, RBIs, runs, slugging percentage and on base plus slugging percentage. He’s three home runs shy of breaking Nomar Garciaparra‘s rooke shortstop homerun record.
