The Denver Broncos are coming off of a disappointing season last year (5-11), but despite that, head coach Vance Joseph believes that the team and coaching staff got better. They’re ready to move on from last year.
Joseph spoke to the media Friday about the changes that were made to the team during the offseason and what he is going to do to make his Broncos better in 2018.
The Broncos have not had back-to-back losing seasons since 1972 and their losing season last year has motivated everyone in the organization to make the playoffs in 2018.
“I think last year has motivated all of us,” said Joseph. “We got better. From a coaching staff, we got better. That’s made our football team very humble but also hungry. I think we’ve all gotten better from last year.”
The quarterback battle between Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch last year is something Joseph is glad is behind the team now. They finally have their starter in Case Keenum.
“I think it’s huge for our team to have a starting quarterback in place,” Joseph continued. Every team’s got talent, but the one position that makes a huge difference is quarterback and we do have one in place. We have a starter. It’s exciting for our team. It’s Case’s team. It’s given us clarity for our football team.”
Joseph explains what he wants to see from the offense by the end of training camp and heading into the regular season.
“The good football teams can run the football,” said Joseph. “Obviously have a precise, efficient passing game. That’s what everyone wants from an offense perspective.”
