The Minnesota Vikings have hired Gary Kubiak as an offensive assistant to head coach Gary Zimmer according to Adam Schefter.

Kubiak was expected to interview for the Jaguars offensive coordinator position on Tuesday, but ended up reaching a deal with the NFC North squad, before he had the opportunity.

As reported by Schefter, Kubiak had an interest in potentially bringing Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski to Denver when he was still in the mix for a role on Vic Fangio’s staff. In the end, Stefanski and Zimmer ended up bringing the 57-year old to Minnesota.

The Vikings are also expected to hire Klint Kubiak as the team’s quarterback coach. Klint, 31, worked in Denver as an offensive assistant for the last three years and previously spent one season at the University of Kansas as a wide receiver’s coach in 2015, and two seasons in Minnesota as a quality control and assistant receiver’s coach in 2013-14.

G. Kubiak will head to Minnesota with three Super Bowl rings and 22 years of coaching experience.
