David Dahl now stands alone among Colorado Rockies rookies. With one more base hit on Friday, he will stand alone among all MLB rookies.

On Thursday, Dahl wasted no time in tying a Major League record, singling in his first at-bat against the Texas Rangers, to tie Cincinnati’s Chuck Aleno with 17 consecutive games to start a career with a hit.

In doing so, Dahl broke a tie with Juan Pierre atop the Colorado Rockies leaderboard in that same category. The hit came on a 3-2 count against Lucas Harrell.

Aleno’s mark had stood since 1941.

The 22-year-old Dahl is hitting .358 through four at-bats in the game.

Dahl can break the record on Friday when the Rockies face the Phillies in Philadelphia.
