First place in the Pac-12 South (or at least a continued share of it) is on the line Saturday as the Colorado Buffaloes host the Arizona State Sun Devils in Boulder. At 2-1 in conference play, CU, ASU and Utah are all in the running for a division that could be up for grabs until the final week of the season.

Pac-12 Network’s Yogi Roth is excited for the primetime matchup he says will be a “chess match when you look at how Arizona State plays, specifically on defense.” Against UCLA, Roth notes, the Sun Devils blitzed on 52 percent of defensive snaps. That could be a big challenge for Sefo Liufau, who is still healing from an ankle injury, and freshman Steven Montez.

Fortunately for Colorado fans, Roth says, the Buffs are just as good as “scheming people up” on offense as ASU is on the defensive side. Colorado, behind co-offensive coordinators Brian Lindgren and Darrin Chiaverini, draw up some brilliant plays and Mike MacIntyre and his entire staff have the Buffs paying attention to the little details that have the Buffs vying for a division title for the first time since joining the Pac-12.

The Buffs and Sun Devils kick off at 6 p.m. Saturday at Folsom Field or on Pac-12 Networks.
