Tonight, Dikembe Mutombo will have his jersey lifted up into the rafters, the No. 55 never to be worn again by the Denver Nuggets.

Some people, though, have questioned why Mutombo is having his jersey retired in the first place. Yes, he’s an all-time great, an eight-time All Star and Hall of Famer, but only five of Mutombo’s 18 seasons occurred in Denver.

It’s simple, really: He’s a legend, and when people think Mutombo, they think Denver Nuggets. Specifically, they think the Denver Nuggets 1994 eight-one upset over the Seattle Supersonics.

Arguably, that moment, where Mutombo lifts the ball into the sky with pure joy on his face, may be the most memorable moment in franchise history.

Make sure you’re there tonight, as the Nuggets take on the Trailblazers at Pepsi Center, to witness another memorable moment in franchise history.
