The comeback magic just wasnt in the cards Saturday night for the Colorado Eagles, as they would fall 5-0 to the Florida Everblades in Game 5 of the Kelly Cup Finals.

Now trailing 3-2 in the series, the Eagles are on the brink of elimination from the Finals in their final ECHL season.

With much anticipation for this game following the high-scoring affair in Game 4, the Everblades were able to get the first strike with a goal coming from forward Stephen Macaulay at the 11:41 mark of the first period.

They weren’t finished there, however, as Everblades forward Justin Kea scored a highlight reel goal to extend his team’s lead to 2-0 to close out the first period.

Holding a 2-0 lead over the Colorado Eagles into the second period, the Everblades scored the lone goal of the second period at the 7:39 mark. It was a powerplay goal from Michael Kirkpatrick, a wrist shot from the point, which gave the Everblades the 3-0 lead.

Notching two more goals in the third period, the Florida Everblades would extend their lead to 5-0, shutting out the Eagles, and claiming the 3-2 series lead in the Kelly Cup Finals.

Colorado now looks to force a Game 7 against the Everblades with a victory on Wednesday, June 6 in Game 6 of the Kelly Cup Finals. That game’s puck drops at 7:05 p.m. MT.
