The Colorado Mammoth has announced that the jersey auction for the team’s eighth annual ‘Lacrosse Out Cancer’ game presented by Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children will begin Wednesday, Feb. 1 on eBay. Jerseys of all Mammoth players (and mascot, Wooly) that will be worn on ‘Lacrosse Out Cancer’ Night on Saturday, March 25 will be placed in auction, with net proceeds benefitting local non-profit cancer-related organizations.

The jerseys are the most iconic part of the Mammoth’s ‘I’m Playing For’ campaign, in which each player will compete in the game in the name of someone personally affected by the disease. The winning bidder of each auction will choose who that player will ‘play for’, and the type of cancer he wishes to Lacrosse Out. Jerseys will be given to the winning bidders in a special on-field presentation immediately following the game on ‘Lacrosse Out Cancer’ Night.

“Each year, this mission is the team’s most impactful community initiative,” said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. “It’s a great night for a great cause, and the jerseys are a touching tribute to so many inspirational people.”

In the first seven years of the team’s ‘Lacrosse Out Cancer’ campaign, more than $100,000 has been raised. That number will significantly increase with this year’s auction, coupled with other elements surrounding the event. The team will also expand its ‘Lacrosse Out Cancer’ community appearances to the entire month of March.

One jersey will be auctioned off on eBay each weekday in the month of February. A silent auction for goaltender Alex Buque’s jersey will be held at the next Mammoth home game on Saturday, Feb. 4. The first three player jerseys in the online auction will be:
