Three high school games in Colorado you should absolutely check out tonight

Hey! Hey! Hey! It’s another Friday night, and if you’re not busy pinning on that homecoming corsage – let’s say you’re a “free agent” tonight – we’ve got the games for you. Just as we did last week, we tapped into our resident preps expert and man on the run, Dandy Dan Mohrmann. Here are the games Dany suggests for tonight:

4A No. 7 Palmer Ridge at 4A No. 3 Vista Ridge – Says Mohrmann: “A big Class 4A game that gives the winner the right to be called King of the… Ridge? Vista Ridge quarterback Elway Tubbs (yep, named after THAT Elway) beat up a good Ponderosa team last week through the air with over 400 passing yards and six touchdowns, both career highs. Tonight he gets the chance to continue his impressive senior season with a game against No. 1 Pine Creek only a week away. I’ll be checking that one out first hand, so follow me @DanMohrmann on Twitter.” Editor’s Note: A kid named “Elway”? Sign me up.

Frederick @ 3A No. 6 Holy Family – Says Mohrmann: “Holy Family quarterback Chris Helbig is lighting the state on fire with his record-setting passing numbers through three games. The Tigers need a huge bounce back win over the Warriors after they dropped a disappointing road loss to Palisade last week. Look for Helbig and Co. to attack the air once again, and don’t be surprised if more state records fall in the process.” Editor’s Note: Don’t discount this one just because it’s a 3A matchup. Today’s 3A teams are simply phenomenal, they just don’t have the depth that a 4A or 5A school has.

5A No. 5 Regis Jesuit at Denver South – Says Mohrmann: “After a shaky start of the season, the Rebels have a chance to knock off their second 5A team in a row. South boasts a CU commit in two-way lineman Terrick Roberts while Raiders tight end Jack Stoll will be playing his college ball at Nebraska. This should be a good ol fashioned slugfest and a win for either team would be a huge boost as they both prepare for league play.” Editor’s Note: If you’re looking to watch D-I players, but don’t want to wait until Saturday, this game is for you.
