Following a dominating performance on Wednesday night, the Avalanche cruised to another victory on Thursday, this time defeating the New Jersey Devils 3-1 to earn their eighth straight win.

Logan O’Connor put the Avs ahead 1-0 early in the second period on his seventh goal of the season. Colorado went on to add two more before the buzzer sounds thanks to a tally from Andre Burakovsky and a power-play goal from Artturi Lehkonen.

The Devils broke the shutout bid for Pavel Francouz with just 8:21 remaining. Francouz, who has won his last six games, made 26 saves.

The Avalanche eclipsed two franchise marks in their 9-3 victory over the L.A. Kings on Wednesday. They earned their 29th win at Ball Arena and 53rd overall. They added to both of those feats against New Jersey and have four more home games to continue to build on it.

Prior to puck drop, recent Avs free-agent signing Ben Myers met with the media. The 23-year-old, who captain Minnesota to an NCAA Frozen Four appearance last week, is expected to appear in games before the end of the regular season.

Myers is ineligible to play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs this year but says he saw an opportunity with the Avs that was too good to pass up.

“I just felt like I had a chance to join a great team and a great organization,” he said.
