Bibbs putting in work with speed coach Tom Shaw

As Broncos training camp rapidly approaches, Kapri Bibbs is putting in some serious work with renowned speed coach Tom Shaw in hopes of securing a roster spot at the very competitive running back position in Denver.

Bibbs is currently projected by ourlads.com as the Broncos’ No. 5/6 running back and does not appear on the cbssports.com depth chart. After a breakout second half from C.J. Anderson last year, the starting job looks pretty-well locked-down. Montee Ball has been vocal about his desire to compete for first-team reps. Ronnie Hillman is holding on for dear life in the No. 3 spot and Juwan Thompson may have a home as a fullback-type runner in Gary Kubiak’s zone-blocking offense. Bibbs, clearly, has a tall order to make the 53-man roster.

As such, Bibbs has sought out the help of legendary speed and agility coach Tom Shaw. According to his website, Shaw has trained 10 of the last 12 Super Bowl MVPs. He was previously a speed and agility coach with New Orleans and New England and was part of a team that won three out of four Super Bowl rings. His facility, located at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Fla., offers performance programs from high school to elite professionals.

Bibbs has been working with Shaw and his team this summer, posting this video to Facebook as evidence of his progress.

Despite the apparent logjam at his position, Bibbs appears undeterred and ready to enter camp with improved speed and agility. No doubt he’s hoping to be the man with the rock this year for the Broncos and help deliver coach Shaw an 11th Super Bowl MVP to his stable.
