Bradley Roby honored by NFLPA for The Smile Generation Strikes for Kids Golf Par-Tee

Denver Broncos cornerback Bradley Roby was honored by the NFL Players Association as the Week 7 NFLPA Community MVP in part for his work at The Smile Generation Strikes for Kids Golf Par-Tee. The event, held at Top Golf in Centennial, Colo. on Oct. 25, raised funds for Strikes for Kids and gave more 30 “bigs and littles” from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Colorado the chance to spend quality time with Roby.

The event raised $13,500 for Strikes for Kids, a 501 c3 nonprofit organization that partners more than 125 NFL players with benefiting youth organizations to enrich the lives of students across the United States. Roby also invited six breast cancer survivors to the event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“I was really honored when I found out I won,” Roby said in a release from the NFLPA. “I know only one guy every week can get it, and I see what guys all over the league and here in Denver are doing in the community, so it meant a lot to me to receive the award.

“I was motivated to do the event because I know we as athletes have a platform- and there’s no excuse for us to not be using that platform to better our surroundings,” Roby said.  “The Broncos fans here in Denver are really the best fans in the NFL, so it’s important to me that I get back out here in this Denver community and make a difference however I can – especially with the kids and especially for the breast cancer survivors during this special month of awareness and recognition.”

Roby was joined at the event by world long drive champion Mike Dobbyn and PBA professional Sean Rash. The event was organized in part by Alex Ramirez and Joe Rico, hosts of The Final Word on Mile High Sports AM 1340 | FM 104.7.

Mile High Sports and The Final Word partnered with Strikes for Kids earlier in the year for C.J. Anderson’s “Orange and Blue Bowling Bash.”

Roby’s community involvement is not exclusive to this one event, however. According to the NFLPA, “The former Ohio State standout has been a consistent presence in the Denver community, supporting his Broncos teammates as they lead their own events and fundraisers. Roby also takes time to speak to students at high schools as he understands how his voice and platform can make a difference in their lives.”
