Brandon McManus was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month

Broncos to the Super Bowl

The Broncos will be looking for their seventh win of the season this Sunday, but until then, they can revel in one more victory.

Today, Brandon McManus was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October.

Brandon McManus is the ninth Denver Broncos player to win an AFC Special Teams Player of the Month award, and the the fourth in the last five years.

In the month of October, McManus went 10-11 on field goals, 5-5 on extra points and scored 35 total points. Last year, Connor Barth won the award in December after gong 10-11 on field goals, 13-13 on extra points and scoring 43 total points.

To be fair, though, those extra points are a little harder this year.

And based off those numbers, it’s fair to wonder how McManus didn’t win the award in September, too. Through the Broncos first three games, he went 6-6 on field goals (including three of 50-plus yards), 8-8 on extra points totaling 26 points.

Heading into the season, everybody knew how strong McManus’ leg was; the question was how accurate could he would be? Well, given that half of the league’s kickers seemingly couldn’t kick the ball into the ocean if they were standing on the beach, I’d say he’s more than proven himself.

Here’s to Brandon McManus getting at least one more trophy on his shelf before the season’s over.
