The Denver Broncos are getting into the holiday spirit by giving back to the local community this week.

The Broncos and Denver Rescue Mission will hold their annual Thanksgiving “Banquet in a Box” Turkey Distribution at Empower Field at Mile High on Wednesday (8-11 a.m. MT)

Volunteers from the Broncos Women’s Organization will help provide over 3,000 Thanksgiving turkeys and food boxes to pre-registered families in need on Wednesday at the team’s stadium (Lot B).

Inside the Thanksgiving boxes will include a turkey, potatoes, stuffing, and other traditional Thanksgiving food items. Each box will feed approximately 8-10 people.

Thanksgiving boxes are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“When you can help people that aren’t in the same position as you … that goes a long way,” said Broncos’ offensive tackle Garett Bolles.

Since the inception of the event, Denver Rescue Mission has collected more than 15,000 turkeys with the goal of putting a turkey on every table for Thanksgiving for people in need around Colorado. The organization partners with 100 agencies including churches, schools and non-profits to bring Thanksgiving into the homes of people in need.

Additionally, members of the Broncos organization spent part of Monday at the Denver Rescue Mission, preparing for Thanksgiving.

Broncos’ Safety Will Parks hand-delivered four pre-cooked Thanksgiving meals to Boys and Girls club families around the city Monday, ensuring the families will be taken care of for the holiday.

Although the Broncos will not be playing football on Thanksgiving, they are still making a substantial impact on the Mile High City.
