Carlos Gonzalez out with an illness

Carlos Gonzalez was a late scratch form the Colorado Rockies’ Memorial Day matinee with the Cincinnati Reds with an flu-like symptoms.

Fatigue most likely had a negative effect on the Gonzalez’s health as the Rockies had a late travel night to Cincinnati after beating the San Francisco Giants in Denver on Sunday. The outfielder was held out of the lineup on Sunday as well.

Gonzalez was set to bat third in the order before being scratched. Charlie Blackmon, Brandon Barnes, and Ben Paulsen started in the outfield in his absence.

The Rockies need Gonzalez to shake off his early season funk when he returns. The 29-year-old is batting just .206 with 13 RBIs in 141 at-bats.

Troy Tulowitzki is also out of the lineup on Monday with a scheduled day of rest.
