Case Keenum is a different kind of dude. And for the Denver Broncos, that may be a good thing.

Not a lot of football players write an autobiography, let alone, while they’re in the prime of their careers. But, that’s exactly what Case Keenum has done with the help of Andrew Perloff and a forward by Tony Dungy.

“Playing for More: Trust Beyond What You Can See” is the title of Keenum’s book, which drops Sept. 4, and he shared a quote from the work yesterday on twitter while also sharing his excitement to be playing against his former team.

There’s no questioning Keenum’s faith; not only does his book title hint at his belief in a higher power, so do many of the quotes.

Here’s an excerpt from the book, shared by DenverBroncos.com yesterday:

“In the days leading up to free agency I had been linked to almost every team that needed a quarterback. I didn’t know if any of that was going to happen. But I had been here before. Facing uncertainty and not sure who wanted me and who believed in me. All I knew for sure was that God had taken care of me every time before. And I was sure He would put me in the right place once again.”

Keenum continues, explaining how important having a great agent is for a player, saluting his two agents for their work. And, he explained how they told the journeyman quarterback the Broncos were interested in his services, but they needed to know ASAP.

“Fifteen minutes? I’m supposed to make a decision that will shape my career and affect both me and my family for years. Jeff and Graylan said they were going to circle back with other teams that were interested to try to get the complete picture. They would hit me back shortly. The sooner I could decide on Denver, the better.”

Keenum’s trudged along a long, tough road to get to the Mile High City, where he’s excelled in training camp to become not only “the guy” in terms of his play, but also in his leadership. Now, for the first time since joining the Broncos, everyone gets to see what he can do on the field tonight as he faces his former team, the Minnesota Vikings.

Talk about an interesting first preseason game of the year. Not only is Keenum now in Denver — helping lead the Vikings to the NFC Championship last year — Trevor Siemian is now the backup in Minnesota. And Kirk Cousins, who the Broncos were rumored to be in on, is the starter for the Vikings.

Not only will this first preseason game be important for Keenum and the starters, it’ll be even more key for the backups like Paxton Lynch, Chad Kelly and their cohorts on the second and third-teams, respectively.

The Broncos first preseason game of the year, and first game with Keenum under center, kicks off tonight at 7 p.m. MST at Mile High Stadium.
