For the second time in as many years, the University of Colorado will have a quarterback commit competing in the Elite 11 quarterback competition.

Palmer Ridge quarterback Ty Evans will follow up former Valor Christian standout and current Buff Blake Stenstrom in the nation’s premier quarterback competition. Evans is entering his junior year at Palmer Ridge, but committed to CU in January.

Evans joins 23 of the nation’s best quarterbacks who qualified for the finals of the competition through strong regional performances across the country. The rising seniors will compete for three days this weekend with a final 12 being selected Sunday for The Opening Finals in Dallas from June 29-July 3.

Elite 11 has an impressive list of alumni including Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees, Andrew Luck and a bevy of other NFL stars. Evans will compete against eight of 247Sports’ top 10 quarterback commits of the 2019 class as well as Taulia Tagovailoa, younger brother of National Championship game hero Tua Tagovailoa.

As a junior at Palmer Ridge last season, Evans threw for 3,627 yards, 42 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He led all of Colorado in passing yards and finished second in touchdowns and completions. He was the Class 3A Player of the Year.

Evans chose CU over a laundry list of college football’s top programs, including Alabama, Michigan and Texas A&M.
