The Colorado Rockies fell to 2-1 with Saturday’s loss to the Miami Marlins without Daniel Murphy in the lineup.

Following the game, Rockies manager Bud Black confirmed to reporters that the veteran first baseman fractured his left index finger Friday night. As a result, Murphy is expected to be placed on the 10-day injured list.

Murphy, 33, signed a two-year contract in the offseason and is expected to be the team’s primary starting first baseman in 2019. In 10 at-bats this season, Murphy has one hit and has scored one run.  The veteran has a .299 batting average and .458 slugging percentage over his 11-year career, though.

Without Murphy in the lineup, the Rockies will likely rely on Mark Reynolds. Reynolds re-signed with the Rockies in the offseason after playing for the Nationals in 2018.
