The Avs drop the puck on the 2015-16 season on Thursday and we’d be kidding ourselves if we didn’t admit we’re excited that soon after we’ll start to see some gloves dropping.

One of hockey’s most unique charms is the fact that guys will ditch the mitts and circle skate to skate to settle a grudge. Call us nostalgic (or barbarians), but we love us a good hockey fight.

With just a few more days to count down until the start of hockey season in Colorado, here’s a collection of five great fights featuring local teams.

We promise the boss won’t give you five minutes in the penalty box for checking these out.

No. 5 – A rookie challenges Scott Parker

No. 4 – Eagles and Oilers brawl and everyone gets involved

No. 3 – Joe Sakic beats up Doug Gilmour

No. 2 – Eagles’ Fraser Filipc KO’s opponent in one punch

No. 1 – Avs vs. Red Wings ’97 (Edited and with score by Metallica, a nice touch, by the way)
