According to a tweet by former University of Northern Colorado Basketball player Jordan Davis, the local star will join the Denver Nuggets summer league team.

This comes just two weeks after Davis worked out for the Nuggets, which happened to be Denver’s only round of pre-draft workouts. June 4th was the actual day of Davis’ workout with the Nuggets and he obviously impressed enough to earn himself a spot on the summer league roster.

Davis joins the Nuggets after a phenomenal collegiate career in Greeley with the Bears. In four years, Davis started 126 of the 130 games he played in and scored a total of 2,272 points. Davis averaged 23.5 points per game as a senior, while also dishing out 4.7 assists and hauling in 4.7 rebounds per game in route to winning Big Sky MVP.

“I’m just blessed. I’m coming from a situation where you don’t get this many opportunities. I’m not just talking about going to a smaller school, I’m talking about like where I’m from. I’m from north Las Vegas and If I would take you to the neighborhood’s I get up at as a kid and my high school, you wouldn’t take any opportunity for granted,” Davis said after his workout with the Nuggets. “For me, just being able to be here and get my foot in the door of my dream, cause I’ve been dreaming for this since I was a kid. So, I don’t care whether they have the first draft pick or no draft pick, I’m coming here to hopefully get a spot and I’m not going to take my opportunity for granted.”

Take advantage of that opportunity he did as Davis joins the Nuggets summer league squad just one year after his former collegiate teammate — Andre Spight — represented UNC on Denver’s roster. For Davis, summer league will be a little extra special as it takes place in his hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada.

The addition of Davis on the summer league team currently puts the roster at six players with Michael Porter Jr., Jarred Vanderbilt, Thomas Welsh, Vlatko Cancar, and Brandon Goodwin also playing.
