The Denver Broncos got off to a fast start in Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, but it was an emotional rollercoaster for the Broncos faithful.
After holding the Ravens to a three-and-out on Baltimore’s opening offensive offensive series, the Broncos blocked the first punt of the game. After taking over possession at the Ravens’ six-yard line, Royce Freeman took advantage if the solid field position by rushing for a six-yard TD on Denver’s first offensive play of the game.
Following a touchdown scoring drive from the Ravens to tie the game, the Broncos responded with an eight play, 70-yard touchdown drive. On the series, Emmanuel Sanders was able to take an end around play 35 yards to the house.
Here are a few halftime observations from the first two quarters of the game.
- After successfully running the football on the first two series, the Broncos essentially abandoned the ground game. If the Broncos are going to come back in this game, the offense cannot afford to be one dimensional.
- The Broncos got off to a hot start offensively, but after things got chippy in the second quarter, the team appeared to lose focus.
- Marquette King has been terrible in this football game. How much are they paying this dude, again?
- Phillip Lindsay got ejected for “throwing punches” in the dog pile. Lindsay definitely got into it in the scrum, but to eject a player for jabbing in the pile is absurd. That kind of behavior happens on every fight for the ball that ever occurs.
