No one in the National Hockey League had a better November than Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon. On Friday the NHL named MacKinnon its No. 1 star for the month.

MacKinnon tallied 20 points in November on five goals and 15 assists. His 1.67 points per game led the league, and his 15 assists were the most by an Avalanche player since Peter Forsberg in 2002-03.
MacKinnon capped the month with a game-winning overtime goal against the Winnipeg Jets on Wednesday.
It is the first time an Avalanche player has been recognized in the NHL monthly awards since November 2015, when Matt Duchene earned the league’s third star honor.
Frederik Andersen, goaltender for the Toronto Maple Leafs, earned this month’s second star. Brayden Schenn, center for the St. Louis Blues, was named the third star.
