Despite having led the team to two of the club’s six worst seasons in franchise history over the past two years, Walt Weiss will return as Colorado Rockies manager in 2016.

Ken Rosenthal reported on Tuesday that Weiss would remain on his contract into its final year, a report confirmed by Weiss himself to Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post.

The 2015 Colorado Rockies season was one of extremes. Colorado led the National League in runs scored and was second in batting, but ranked dead last in all of baseball in ERA and runs allowed and 30th in save percentage.

With his future now secure, at least for the short term, Weiss and general manager Jef Bridich can get to work on fixing the pitching staff.
