With Tim Howard’s arrival looming, Zac MacMath has to be wondering if his days in Colorado are numbered.

Marcelo Balboa joined Gil Whiteley to talk about the goalkeeper situation for the Rapids.

“I don’t think you can pass up an opportunity to bring in a Tim Howard when you get an opportunity like this,” Balboa said.

MacMath has had an outstanding start for the Rapids. He has posted five shutouts and only allowed nine goals in 14 games. MacMath also has the best save percentage out of any goalkeeper who has started over four games, at 0.69.

It’s fair to say that MacMath is the best goalkeeper in the MLS right now, so with Tim Howard coming in, the Rapids could find themselves trading MacMath for some players that could immensely help the team.

Fans may think it’s not fair to trade MacMath because of his incredible start, but from his point of view, he’s not going to want to sit on the bench and watch as Howard takes his job, either.

“You gotta put yourself in the mindset and the mentality of MacMath, he doesn’t want to sit the bench for the next three years, he wants to play,” Balboa said.
