Without Von Miller, the Denver Broncos aren’t a playoff team

Von Miller

Earlier this week, Derek Wolfe spoke on SiriusXM Radio about how he thinks the Broncos would be just fine with out Von Miller.

“This is a business, and sometimes the business gets in the way of what is really important and that is winning football games,” Wolfe said. “But at the end of the day, we have the players and the staff to plug anybody we need in wherever we need them.”

However, when Chad Brown join the Afternoon Drive on Mile High Sports Am 1340 | FM 104.7, he disagreed.

“I think all the players on that defense recognize that they are made better by Von Miller being on the field,” Brown said. “Derek Wolfe gets an opportunity to rush one on one because Von Miller gets triple teams, and if he can’t recognize that, that is quite naive from his standpoint.”

Miller is the third-fastest player in NFL history to reach 50 sacks. That’s production you can’t just replace, or forget about.

“With Von Miller, they are a playoff team,” said Brown “Without Von Miller, they are not a playoff team, partly because they are missing Von Miller on the field but more so because of the distractions that will bring — the consistent questions and guys in the locker room taking sides between the team and Von.”

No matter who they slide into Miller’s role, he will not be Von Miller. He will not be the reigning Super Bowl MVP.

“There is no doubt that Von Miller is a special player, and we would be better if he’s is on the field with us,” Brown said. “Would we find a way to replace him? Of course we will, but there’s no doubt about what he brings to the game each and every week and the impact he has on the defense.”
