The big talk of the day for Denver was the first depth chart being released. With some surprises on offenses and defenses, the Broncos now have a hard sheet to build on as day eleven began.

The Broncos defensive pass rush was strong on Tuesday, while offensive playmakers put on another show.

Offense:

Running back was a high priority to watch for the Broncos in camp and let’s say if the tie goes to the runner, Devontae Booker is the runner. Booker was listed as the No. 1 back, with rookie Royce Freeman at No. 2 and rookie De’Angelo Henderson as No. 3.

Tight ends are listed with Jeff Heuerman at No. 1, who is leading the race so far in a very crucial camp for Heuerman. Jake Butt is listed at No. 2 and could very well see starting time by the end of preseason.

It was no surprise at quarterback with Case Keenum listed at No. 1, Paxton Lynch sitting No. 2 and Chad Kelly No. 3.

Coach Vance Joseph spoke post-practice saying the starters will receive a max of two series and has not figured out how he will split up time between the back ups.

Defense:

Rookie Bradley Chubb will start his NFL career being listed as the No. 1 strong-side outside linebacker along-side Von Miller on the other side. Shane Ray will start as depth with Shaquil Barrett.

In the secondary, the Broncos rookie from 2017 has falled. Brendan Langley was listed behind not only new-comer Tramaine Brock (who hasn’t practiced due to injury) but also behind 2018 rookie Isaac Yiadom. Preseason will be crucial for Langley to show Denver he can be an impact player. Langley gave Denver no production last year and has yet to flash in training camp this year.

Special teams:

While no competition will happen at kicker (Brandon McManus) and punter (Marquette King,) returners will have the spotlight shown on them and with the first depth chart being released. Phillip Lindsay will lead the way in kick returns and Isaiah McKenzie was listed as the No. 1 punt returner.

The Denver pass rush had several pushes up-front as they got to the quarterback today in many instances. Clearly showing their desire to push some offensive lineman around — the defensive lines put the Broncos protection to the test on Tuesday.

Swarming could be a way of describing their attack as they rushed the front and outsides with strength and speed. What may be a sign of things to come, the Broncos pass rush is simply lethal and will be hard to stop in many situations for the opposition.

While Broncos rookie wide receiver Courtland Sutton has stolen the spotlight of camp, Demaryius Thomas has also performed well as the nine year veteran made an full extension catch that drew fans approval at camp Tuesday.

Thomas has made toe-tip after toe-tip catch in camp while receiving passes from Keenum. The chemistry of the two is clearly becoming more apparent and should be able to play much faster than 2017, when Thomas dealt with a rotating door at quarterback.

Thomas will not only be one of the premiere weapons Denver going into the season, but also plays a voice and veteran presence in the wide receiver room that features high-rising young talent.
