After being selected 253rd in the 2017 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, Chad Kelly became the 42nd Mr. Irrelevant in NFL history. Established in 1976 by former NFL player Paul Salata, Irrelevant Week celebrates the last pick of the NFL Draft with a week full of festivities. In addition to the events, Irrelevant Week also acts as a fundraiser for different charities each year. This year’s charity is Heroism Beyond the Hashmarks.

The celebration began on Thursday night when Kelly landed at John Wayne Airport in Newport Beach, Calif. Kelly’s greeting committee made sure he arrived in style.

On Friday morning, the activities began early at Grit Cycle. Kelly and his brother Casey took part in an early morning spin class to start off the day.

After the visit to Grit Cycle, Kelly and his brother toured the ESPN studios in Los Angeles. Later in the afternoon, they will head to NFL Network.

The Lowsman Trophy Banquet will take place on Friday night where attendees will have a chance to roast and toast Kelly for his honor. At the banquet, Kelly will be presented with the Lowsman Trophy, a parody of the Heisman Trophy that depicts a player fumbling the ball.

On Saturday, Irrelevant Week will host the Balboa Peninsula Bronco Beach Bash. This community event invites families from the area to the beach to enjoy food and games throughout the day. To cap off the weekend, Kelly will participate in a meet and greet at Balboa Bay Resort where fans can give Kelly gifts and well wishes before leaving for Denver.
