Denver Broncos Mailbag: Could Vance Joseph emerge as assistant of the year

After the Denver Broncos defense got off to a horrendous start earlier in the season, they’ve now emerged as one of the NFL’s top defensive units during the most crucial stretch of the season. Could Vance Joseph be in line for an assistant coach of the year award?

On the latest installment of Good Morning Broncos on Mile High Sports YouTube page, Broncos Country sent in their mailbag questions for this week as the team prepares to take on the Detroit Lions on Saturday.

Mile High Sports Broncos reporter Cody Roark dives deep into the various questions sent in, including sharing his thoughts on the defensive turnaround from Joseph and why he would be deserving of being considered for an assistant coach of the year award. Cody also shares his thoughts on how Joseph’s contributions to Denver’s turnaround could lead to him getting potential head coaching interviews during the offseason.

Broncos fans also inquired about why the team has been successful for the most part in the number of injuries that have impacted games missed this season in comparison to last year. Is Sean Payton a big reason for that? Cody shares his insight on Payton’s hires of Vice President of Player Health and Performance Beau Lowery and Strength and Conditioning Coach Dan Dalrymple and how the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group has changed their approach as an organization in helping aid in player recovery, nutrition, and more.

Plus, fans also inquire about the Broncos low average in terms of yards per carry offensively. Cody shares why situational context during the course of the game matters more than the box score statistics, but also pinpoints why Denver has to be more operationally efficient running the football on the outside if they hope to make a playoff push.
