This week, former Denver Broncos safety Steve Atwater advanced to the final round of voting for the Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2019. The final vote will occur the day before Super Bowl Llll on February 2nd.

Atwater caught up with Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of Afternoon Drive on Mile High Sports AM1340 | FM 104.7 radio to talk about his Hall of Fame candidacy.

“If it does not happen this year, I am just hoping that eventually, it happens,” he said. “There is no specific formula the voters use to get down to who they are going to select. They look at stats; they may look at film, too, and then they get a feel for who are the right players to go in. They listen to arguments from the writers and whoever is the most influential will get their guys in.”

Atwater played for the Broncos from 1989-1998, winning two championships and earning eight pro bowls appearances in that span. He was a centerpiece on defense for Denver throughout the 90’s and was a two-time, first team all-pro selection.
