Three Denver Broncos on the hot seat in Week 1 against the Ravens

The Denver Broncos are undefeated in season opener’s during the Peyton Manning era.

In 2012 they took care of the Steelers, in 2013 they blasted Baltimore and last year they disposed of the Colts in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score indicated.

Those pesky Ravens are back in Denver for Week 1 of the 2015 season and the Broncos need to get off to a good start and hopefully help Peyton Manning break yet another record in the process.

While a lot of guys could step up on Sunday, these three men need to. Here are three Denver Broncos on the hot seat entering 2015 and specifically Week 1.

No. 3 – David Bruton

This is a bit of unique situation, considering Bruton is only getting the start because of T.J. Ward’s bogus one game suspension. But that doesn’t change the stakes. Bruton has been a staple on this team for a long time and is a captain for a reason, but he’s thrived on special teams, not necessarily at safety. Will he on Sunday? Time to find out.

No. 2 – Brandon McManus

It certainly didn’t mean anything for the standings, but McManus’ last kick of the preseason was a disaster. With the game on the line McManus pushed the field goal to win it badly and the Broncos watched Arizona run out the clock. He wasn’t good last year and only won the job this year because of some no pressure camp kicks. He’s got to earn this job.

No. 1 – Sylvester Williams

That’s a pretty bold proclamation, Tyler. Not many in Broncos country have forgotten Terrance Knighton or “Pot Roast,” and considering he only got a one year, $4M deal from the Redskins it seems a little silly the Broncos didn’t pony up and pay him. Who can prove that notion wrong? Williams — who’s been underwhelming thus far in his career and must step up in Week 1 and throughout 2015.
