A week after Trevor Siemian played the most-impressive game of his young career, it will be Paxton Lynch making the start behind center for the Denver Broncos, according to Mike Klis of 9News.

Siemian suffered a foot injury during the Broncos’ overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, and with him having yet to practice this week, the rookie will get another shot behind center.

Lynch, the No. 26 overall pick in last year’s draft, will be making the second start of his young career. Back in Week 4, he stepped up in place of an injured Siemian in the second half of the Tampa Bay game and started for the team the next week against Atlanta, too.

In that lone start, Lynch completed 66 percent of his passes for 223 yards and a touchdown, though he also tossed an interception and took six sacks.

Behind a porous offensive line, Lynch looked a little frazzled, looking to escape the pocket even when there was no pressure. Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole reported on Thursday that the team is still worried that he’s not ready for the starting role.

Klis reports that the team is fairly confident that Siemian will be ready to go next week against the Tennessee Titans, but could a breakout performance from Lynch delay his return?

Only time will tell.
