The Colorado Avalanche are 0-for-2 so far on their five-game home stand, although they did claim a point in Saturday night’s shootout loss to Vancouver. The Canucks were on the second night of a road back-to-back, having lost to Dallas one night prior, and Colorado was looking to avenge an ugly 6-3 loss to Edmonton two nights prior.

Vancouver goaltender Jacob Markstrom had 32 saves and made all three stops in a shootout, helping the Canucks top the Avalanche 3-2. Colorado applied heavy pressure in the overtime period, but couldn’t crack Markstrom. Calvin Pickard survived a Carl Soderberg penalty in the extra frame to force the shootout.

Jarome Iginla scored career goal 614 to tie the game early in the third. Mikhail Grigorenko leveled things in the second with his second of the year.

Colorado is at home through next Saturday to conclude their longest home stand of the season. At 9-10-1, the Avs need to take advantage of this opportunity to rack up points at home. After the home stand Colorado plays seven of their next 10 on the road.
