In the end, Russell Westbrook‘s sixth triple-double of the season proved too much for the Denver Nuggets. Denver led by as much as 11 with under four minutes to play, but couldn’t hold on and lost 132-129 in overtime.
Westbrook led a furious comeback, taking control of the game in the final minutes of regulation and overtime. The MVP candidate scored 24 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, including an 8-0 run by himself to cut the Denver lead to two points with under two minutes. Westbrook finished with 18 assists and 12 rebounds, as well.
Wilson Chandler had a chance to tie the game with a driving layup late in overtime but Steven Adams blocked his shot. Chandler led Denver with 32 points in a starting role. Jamal Murray continued to put up points for Denver, scoring 20, but was just 2-of-7 from 3-point range. Jameer Nelson had a double-double with 21 points and 13 assists.
The Nuggets travel to Phoenix next for an afternoon affair on Sunday.
