The Denver Broncos have made a roster move, and it’s another bad sign for Peyton Manning’s future.

Yesterday, the Broncos announced that Manning will not only miss this weekend’s game against the Patriots, but next weekend’s game against the Chargers, too. And the fact that the Broncos felt the need to bring in Christian Ponder would seem to insinuate that Denver’s not exactly sure when their Hall of Fame quarterback will be back on the field.

If Manning was expected to be back in just a few weeks, the Broncos would probably feel comfortable riding with just Brock Osweiler and Trevor Siemian — most teams only activate two quarterbacks on gameday, anyways. But if the Broncos believed Manning could possibly miss the rest of the season, it would make sense that they’d bring in a third quarterback to take his spot.

Either that, or the Broncos just don’t have confidence in Siemian.

Whatever it means, though, I’m sure I speak for all Broncos fans when I say that I hope we never see Ponder throw a pass for the Denver Broncos this season.
