The Colorado Rockies are fresh off a series victory of the National League East leading Washington Nationals, and are currently just 6.5 games back of a spot in the postseason.

The Rox were rolling at the beginning of the month, playing above .500 baseball and launching themselves into the postseason conversation; however, a bad bad few weeks of baseball killed the team’s mojo, dropping them to seven games under .500 at one point.

Things were not looking good for the boys, especially with the top two team’s in the National League coming to pay a visit to Blake Street.

However, the Rockies, somehow managed to take two of three from Bryce Harper and Nats.

Now, with momentum on their side, the Rockies are hoping for one last-ditch effort to get themselves into the playoff conversation.

The task won’t be easy, but it is doable.

The Cubbies come to town ridding high, having won eight of their previous 10 games. The team also plays stellar baseball on the road, owning a record of 32-24 away from Wrigleyville.

As we all know, the Rockies are capable of playing like a top team in the NL at times. Unfortunately, they also have the capability of playing like bottom feeders, too.

As it stands, with virtually a month remaining in the season, the Rox sense of urgency needs to kick into gear if they want to get back in the Wild card conversation. They’re still within striking distance of a playoff spot, but time is running out. Colorado can’t afford anything less than a serious victory over the best team in baseball.

Let’s see if the boys on Blake have that “it” factor every winning ballclub possesses.
