The Avalanche have made their third trade in four days on Monday, acquiring forward Carl Soderberg from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for prospects Ryder Rolston and Josh Dickinson.
Soderberg, 35, played for the Avalanche from 2015-2019. He was traded to Arizona before the 2019-20 season and signed with Chicago as a free agent last offseason.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound center recorded 57 goals and 151 points during his four seasons with the Avalanche. Soderberg often centered Colorado’s second line, building coach Jared Bednar’s most trusted unit alongside a combination of Blake Comeau, Matt Calvert and Matt Nieto in his last two seasons with the Avs.
Rolston, 19, was drafted 139th overall by Colorado in 2020. He is coming off his freshman season with Notre Dame, recording one goal and six points in 28 games.
Dickinson was undrafted before the Avs signed him. The 23-year-old has split time between the American Hockey League and East Coast Hockey League in 2021. In seven games with the Colorado Eagles of the AHL, Dickinson has two assists.
