The Colorado Rockies have kicked off free agency after their 87-win campaign last year with the signing of free-agent catcher Chris Iannetta, as reported first by Ken Rosenthal.

Iannetta signed a two-year deal to return to where his career started.

Iannetta spent the first six years of his major league career in Colorado, hitting .235 with 236 RBI and 63 home runs. Iannetta was traded on November 30, 2011, to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim for pitcher Tyler Chatwood, who signed with the Cubs on Thursday.

Iannetta spent four seasons with the Angels, who also spent time with the Seattle Mariners and Arizona Diamondbacks, before now returning to Colorado.
