As the Colorado Avalanche continue to work towards their opening night roster, the roster of the San Antonio Rampage is also beginning to take shape.

On Sunday, the Avalanche reassigned nine players to San Antonio.  Amongst them were goaltenders Jeremy Smith and Spencer Martin; meaning that, barring injury, Semyon Varlamov and Calvin Pickard will be the Avs goalies to begin the season (as expected).

Also sent to the AHL were Turner Elson, A.J. Greer and Joe Whitney, all of whom had impressed, at points, during the preseason.  A first-year pro, Greer also looked solid during the Rookie Showcase.

Joining them in San Antonio will be centers Troy Bourke, Samuel Henley and Jim O’Brien, as well as defenseman Ryan Stanton.

Smith, Elson, Whitney, O’Brien and Stanton were all signed by the Avalanche on July 1.

The Avalanche roster now stands at 30 players, meaning they will have to reassign seven prior to the beginning of the regular season.  You can view the updated roster here.  The Rampage will begin training camp on Oct. 3.
