ENGLEWOOD — As the Denver Broncos prepare for Sunday’s showdown with the Washington Commanders, they’ll have to do so without tight end Greg Dulcich but could get Jerry Jeudy back.

Denver Broncos Practice Report from Wednesday

The Denver Broncos will have their hands full this Sunday when the newly revamped Washington Commanders come to town but they were back on the practice field on Wednesday as they dive deeper into their game preparation.

Broncos place Caden Sterns on injured reserve, elevate WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey

After Broncos safety Caden Sterns suffered a season-ending knee injury on Sunday, the team officially placed him on injured reserve.

The move to IR frees up a roster spot, where they elevated practice squad wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey to the active roster.

Humphrey hauled in a touchdown pass from Russell Wilson in Sunday’s 17-16 loss at home but saw the second most snaps behind Courtland Sutton.

Having Humphrey on the 53-man roster gives Denver another sizeable option and freed up an additional spot on the team’s practice squad, which wide receiver Michael Bandy filled.

Denver Broncos Injury Report from Wednesday

P.J. Locke, Greg Dulcich, K’Waun Williams, Baron Browning, and Alex Palczewski were all spotted on the team’s side field at the start of practice.

Locke continues progressing from the ankle injury he suffered during the second week of training camp. Dulcich, who will be out for at least a few weeks, did some stretching and light work on the side field.

Williams made his first appearance on the side field after undergoing ankle surgery a few weeks ago. He and Locke were placed on short-term injured reserve after initial roster cuts and are eligible to return in Week 5.

Browning, who started the season on the PUP list, is eligible to return after Week 4 but the Broncos will monitor where he’s at after he had offseason knee surgery. The third-year edge rusher has moved well as he ramps things up and will be a welcome addition to Denver’s defense whenever he returns.

Palczewski is another short-term IR placement and will likely be back after the four-week period is over.

Denver also announced their official practice participation report following Wednesday’s practice.

The following players were limited:

  • Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (hamstring)
  • Outside linebacker Frank Clark (hip)
  • Defensive tackle D.J. Jones (knee)
  • Cornerback Riley Moss (abdomen)

Tight end Greg Dulcich was the only player who did not participate on Wednesday.

Will Jerry Jeudy make his return on Sunday?

Last week, Jerry Jeudy returned to the practice field in a limited capacity and slowly ramped things up. During Sunday’s pregame period, he did a brief workout in front of the Broncos strength and conditioning coach Dan Dalrymple, Sean Payton, and George Paton.

Jeudy appeared to move well, but Denver held him out of Sunday’s game. He was spotted during Wednesday’s practice and did a little bit more movement this week than last week.

While his practice participation has been listed as limited, there is a chance that he could return this week against the Commanders.

“He was,” Payton said on whether or not Jeudy was close to playing last week. “I get it. Sometimes you guys—when I say ‘gameday,’ he was a [true] gameday decision. Hamstrings are tricky, though, with the idea of possibly getting set back two or three more weeks. He was close. We actually had a workout pre-game to go through it. We made our decision off of that.”
