With his six-game MLS suspension finally over, the Colorado Rapids’ prized new midfielder made his debut in Commerce City in snowy conditions resemblant of one of the more famous (or infamous, depending on your perspective) games played at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Jones didn’t score in the original ‘SnowClasico’ match – but he did find the back of the net in what was being hyped as the sequel. The goal gave Colorado an early 1-0 lead over New York in wet, soggy conditions.

The snow was still falling when Jones put Colorado up, but it did not appear that the accumulation would rival the several inches that accumulated in March 2013 when the U.S. defeated Costa Rica 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier. The game produced countless stunning images, but few were as talked-about as Jermaine Jones’ hair, caked with icy snow.

Jones was sporting dreadlocks for his first goal as a member of the Rapids.
